As the federal leadership race moves into the second week, the spotlight is now on the leaders’ health care promises. Depending on the poll you’re looking at, this might just be the top issue that determines how Canadians will vote. In today’s election special series, we delve deeper into the issue of health care. We take a look at what the candidates are saying, and how much their plans will cost Canadian taxpayers. We’ll cover an unforeseen episode that occurred when Chrystia Freeland, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Liberal Party, made a move against the Tories. She posted a Twitter video that took aim at Conservative Party Leader Erin O’Toole’s position on universal health care, but the video was subsequently flagged by Twitter as “manipulative media.” Lastly, we take a quick look at the polls, which shows the Conservatives and the Liberals to be neck-in-neck in the beginning of the second week of the 2021 Canadian federal election.
