Expressing Solidarity with Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners in China
“My name is František Mikloško. I am a religious Catholic, I have lived all my life in Czechoslovakia, now in Slovakia. I have seen how the atheist regime has persecuted believers. It sent them to prison for many years, many for a lifetime sentence, many died in prison. Today, this atheist regime in Slovakia is a thing of the past, there are people practising their belief here, living on and developing their faith.
The power of the spirit cannot be defeated by violence or by matter.
When I watched Dr. Wang’s film about the persecution of Falun Gong members, when I heard a US Senate resolution on the persecution of Falun Gong, when I heard the resolution of the European Parliament this subject, when I heard that Israel and Taiwan had forbidden by law their citizens to take transplants surgery in China, I felt horror and I was petrified.
China now boasts with economic results, fast trains, and so on, but all this makes no sense, if they will persecute Falun Gong members. This has no sense, because these great achievements of civilization will forever be tarnished by this persecution.
I express my solidarity with these persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. I express my solidarity with all persecuted for their beliefs. I express my deep involvement in their suffering. I pray for them.
I ask and request the representatives of the People’s Republic of China to stop this persecution and to allow people to live freely according to their conscience.
I believe that these words, even from a small Slovakia, will one day come true.”
