One man is dead and another is injured after a shooting late Sunday in the parking lot of an Amazon warehouse on the far Westside of Bexar County, Texas, authorities said.

The gunfire erupted just after 10 p.m. Sunday in the 10000 block of U.S. Highway 90 West, near Loop 1604 and Pue Road, in the parking lot of the Amazon Fulfillment Center, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said two people were shot and taken to University Hospital, with one initially reported to have life-threatening injuries.

By Monday morning, one of the victims—a 26-year-old man—had died after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the sheriff’s office confirmed to numerous outlets. The other victim is expected to survive. Officials have not released the names or ages of either victim, other than confirming the deceased man’s age.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NTD News made after regular business hours.

Amazon confirmed that the person who was killed was an employee at the Far Westside warehouse.

“We’re heartbroken by the tragic loss of a valued member of our team and are keeping the victim’s family and loved ones in our thoughts,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement to the media. “We’re providing support to the family and counseling support to employees. We’ve added additional security to the site and are cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.”

A spokesperson for Amazon did not immediately respond to NTD News request for additional details or for comment.

Authorities have not released additional details about a possible motive, the type of weapon used, or the circumstances that preceded the shooting. A suspect has not yet been identified, MySA reported, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
The Sunday night shooting in Bexar County comes months after a separate shooting incident at an Amazon facility in Georgia. In late September, a suspected gunman fired multiple shots into an Amazon warehouse in Columbus, Georgia, before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot following a brief standoff with police.

That Georgia shooting unfolded before dawn on a Monday at the warehouse on the city’s east side. The suspect, 22-year-old Mylen Belyue, fired several rounds into the building from outside, then moved a short distance away, where officers confronted him, the Columbus Police Department said. No one else was hurt in that incident. Columbus is about 100 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Officers were sent to the fulfillment center on Chatsworth Road after multiple 911 callers reported someone shooting into the building just before 4:47 a.m. Police said Belyue fired several rounds from outside the facility before the brief standoff in which he shot himself.

Belyue’s father told WTVM that his son had been employed at the warehouse since June but left about a week earlier and had complained of being bullied at work and sought mental health treatment, according to the Georgia Gazette.

In Bexar County, the sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information about Sunday night’s parking lot shooting to come forward as investigators work to determine what triggered the attack and who was responsible.
