Mass-produced propaganda is coming from Beijing with limited human effort required. A research firm has identified a series of deepfake video clips featuring AI-generated newscasters. All of them were broadcasting messages that align with the Chinese Communist Party. On first glance, these look like news anchors. But they aren’t real people. They’re “deepfake” avatars made with artificial intelligence. It’s unclear who is behind this, but last year, pro-CCP bot accounts sent them out over Twitter and Facebook.
