China’s chokehold on rare earth exports is squeezing U.S. manufacturers. Despite recent trade talks, supply chain headaches seem to be only getting worse. What’s next for American firms?

China is ramping up efforts to challenge U.S. energy dominance. A Senate subcommittee is probing China-backed lawsuits aimed at crippling American energy companies. “There is a coordinated assault by the radical left, backed and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party, to seize control of our courts and to weaponize litigation against U.S. energy producers,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights.

Amid growing biosecurity concerns, a young Chinese couple is allegedly at the center of a case involving the smuggling of a potentially deadly fungus into the United States. Experts warn this may be part of a larger threat. “They were clandestinely running materials from China, connected to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, into the Winnipeg lab,” said Sam Cooper, investigative reporter and author of “Wilful Blindness.”
