NYC Mayor Adams Faces Indictment, Vows to Fight Charges; FLA. Braces for Possible Cat. 4 Hurricane

New York City Mayor Eric Adams says he’s expecting federal charges in an ongoing corruption probe. This follows a report by the New York Times regarding a possible indictment. Adams addressed New Yorkers in a video statement on Wednesday night, saying he believes the federal government intends to charge him with crimes “based on lies.”

Florida Residents are bracing for a possible Category 4 hurricane. Forecasters say Hurricane Helene threatens a devastating storm surge as well as well as damaging winds, rains and flash floods. The governors of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas have all declared emergencies in their states.

The U.S. and 10 allies are calling for a 21-day ceasefire across the Israel-Lebanon border. The calls come after Israel’s military said it was getting ready for a possible ground incursion, and called up two reserve brigades. Israel’s military chief told troops airstrikes in Lebanon are destroying Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure to pave the way. The United Nations chief is urging all sides to “step back from the brink.”
