Theatergoers and Canadian members of Parliament expressed their dismay after Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts decided to cancel six scheduled Shen Yun Performing Arts shows over fake bomb threats. The threats are part of a campaign of transnational repression run by the Chinese Communist Party targeting the performing arts company. Canadians said they were concerned by Beijing’s infiltration on Canadian soil and its encroachment on the right to artistic freedom. Audience members said they also hope that Shen Yun will soon return to Toronto.
